Brogan Repeats as CAC Player of the Year, Catullo as Coach of the Year as 2017 All-CAC Women's Tennis Teams Announced

YORK, Pa. - Mary Washington junior Kait Brogan repeated as the CAC Player of the Year to headline the 2017 All-CAC Women's Tennis Team. UMW head coach Patrick Catullo and Christopher Newport freshman Johanna Ranta-aho picked up the other major awards on the all-star squad. 

Brogan became the sixth UMW player to earn multiple Player of the Year awards, joining Lindsay Raulston (2012-14), Courtney Goimarac (2010-11), Rebecca Morse-Karzen (2008-09), Lea Schon (1998-2001), and Kirsten Erickson (1996-97) as Eagles with multiple top player accolades. Brogan earned first-team All-CAC honors in both singles and doubles for the third straight year. 

Catullo was named Coach of the Year for the 12th conseuctive year after leading the Eagles to their 14th straight CAC crown. Catullo is one of just seven coaches in the history of the conference to win Coach of the Year accolades. 

Ranta-aho, who played at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles for CNU, earned Rookie of the Year honors. The freshman is the second CAC Rookie of the Year for the Captains, joining Logan Eldridge (2014) as top newcomers. Ranta-aho was also a first-team selection in singles and a second-team all-star in doubles. 

CAC champion Mary Washington led the All-CAC squad with all six singles players and all three doubles teams earning recognition. Along with Brogan, senior Taylor Diffley (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles), and freshman Rachel Summers (No. 3 singles, No. 2 doubles) secured first-team nods in both singles and doubles. Diffley was a repeast first-teamer in both singles and doubles. Junior Ashley Barrow was a first-team doubles selection at the No. 2 position with Summers. 

UMW players on the second team included senior Caroline Mosberg (No. 4 singles, No. 3 doubles), junior Hannah Jabusch (No. 5 singles), and sophomore Danielle Mirabella (No. 6 singles, No. 3 doubles). Mosberg earned All-CAC honors for the third straight season in both singles and doubles. 

CAC runner-up Christopher Newport landed three singles players and a pair of doubles squads on the all-star team. In addition to Ranta-aho, junior No. 1 singles player McKinney Harwood picked up first-team honors in singles and teamed with junior Alexandra Drye for first-team doubles awards. Harwood and Drye were second-team doubles picks in 2016, while Harwood earned the second singles all-star honor of her career (second team in 2015). 

CNU junior Kate Huck earned a pair of all-conference honors as a second-team singles selection at the No. 3 position and second team doubles with Ranta-aho at No. 2. It marks the second career all-star appearance in both singles and doubles for Huck. 

Salisbury freshmen Annika Kezman and Julia Kwedi landed on the All-CAC team, with Kezman (No. 1 singles) earning first-team singles honors and Kwedi (No. 2 singles) securing second team singles honors. 

York junior Katie Wagner picked up the first all-conference awards of her career, securing second team singles and doubles honors. Wagner played at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Spartans. Doubles partner senior Darian Naill also received All-CAC recognition for the first time.
