#15 UMW Women's Tennis Tops Methodist, F&M on Saturday Outside at Battleground

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team, ranked 15th in the nation, defeated Methodist University, 8-1, and Franklin & Marshall College, 9-0, on Saturday outside at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.

In the morning against Methodist, Kait Brogan and Taylor Diffley won at one doubles, 8-2, and Sara Fioretti and Rachel Summers won at three, 8-2. After holding a 5-4 lead at two, the Eagles scored three of the next four to win, 8-5, and sweep doubles play.

In singles, Diffley won at one in a third set tiebreaker, while Caroline Mosberg fell in a third set breaker at two. UMW dominated three through six singles, with Summers, Hannah Jabusch, Danielle Mirabella and Addie Hinton all winning in straight sets.

UMW then swept Franklin & Marshall College in the evening, 9-0. In doubles, Brogan and Diffley won at one, 8-2; Barrow and Mosberg won at two, 8-3, and Fioretti and Summers won at three, 8-2.

In singles, Brogan won at one, 6-1, 7-6 (5), Diffley won at two, 6-2, 6-4; Mosberg won at three, 6-0, 6-0; Summers won at four, 6-1, 6-1; Jabusch won at five, 6-1, 6-1; and Mirabella won at six, 6-1, 6-2.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday when they host CAC foe Salisbury University at 10 a.m.
