Brogan Claims Main Draw Singles Flight as UMW Women's Tennis Wraps Up Successful Weekend at Mount St. Mary's

Junior Kait Brogan claimed the main singles draw championship to lead the University of Mary Washington women's tennis team's successful weekend at the Mount St. Mary's College Invitational.

Brogan defeated Danielle Thompson of Morgan State, 6-4, 6-7 (1), 10-5, in the finals after downing teammate Danielle Mirabella, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the semifinals. Junior Hannah Jabusch advanced to the finals of her singles flight, by defeating teammate Addie Hinton, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Jabusch fell to Kayla Price, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.

In consolation action, Taylor Diffley downed Brittany Poje, 6-1, 6-1 in the finals, while Brittany McBride fell after advancing to the finals to Erin Benefiel of Mount St. Mary's, 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles play, Diffley and Caroline Mosberg won a pair of matches, and McBride and Sara Fioretti won their second round match, 6-3, over Morgan State.
