#18 UMW Women's Tennis Tops Salisbury, 8-1, in CAC Action on Thursday

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team recorded its seventh straight victory with an 8-1 win at Salisbury University on Thursday in Salisbury, Md. The Eagles improve to 11-2 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles gained a point at one, as sophomore Kait Brogan and senior Shelby Harris won at one, 8-3, and sophomore Caroline Mosberg and freshman Sara Fioretti won at three, 8-4. The Eagles completed the sweep at two doubles, with a 9-8 win for Taylor Diffley and Mackenzie Smith.

In singles, the Eagles started with quick straight set wins at five and six singles. Sophomore Hannah Jabusch won at six, 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Danielle Mirabella won at five, 6-2, 6-1. Smith won at four, 6-2, 6-0. Harris retired at two singles, trailing 5-4, to give Salisbury its point, before Brogan won at one, 6-4, 6-1, and from Diffley at three, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.

The Eagles will be back in action on April 1 when they visit Southern Virginia University at 4:00 p.m.
