The 19th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated LaVerne University, 9-0, on Wednesday evening in Claremont, California. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

In doubles, Caroline Mosberg and Sara Fioretti won at three, 8-2, and Mackenzie Smith and Taylor Diffley won at two, 8-3, before Shelby Harris and Kait Brogan came from behind to win, 9-7, at one.

In singles, Brogan won at one, 6-1, 2-6, 10-3, over Bridget Etchegaray. Mosberg won at two, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9, over Savanah Goode, and Chrissy Gaul won at three, 2-6, 6-1, 10-8, over Janae Chinn.

Diffley won at four, 6-3, 6-3, over Shenelle Trujillo, and Smith won at five, 6-4, 6-2, over Areli Martinez. Danielle Mirabella won at six, 6-1, 6-1.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at Chapman University at 4:00 p.m.
