UMW's Shelby Harris Named CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Mary Washington junior Shelby Harris was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for April 14, 2015.

Mary Washington junior Shelby Harris was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after helping the Eagles secure the top seed in the CAC Tournament with key victories over Salisbury and Christopher Newport last week. Harris registered a pair of straight-set singles victories over regionally-ranked opponents last week at the No. 1 position, defeating Salisbury Natalie Savage 6-3, 6-4 and CNU's McKinney Harwood 6-4, 6-4. She also teamed with Alex Ritter for an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles against Salisbury.

In the April 9 ITA National Rankings, Mary Washington remained at No. 20 while Christopher Newport moved into the rankings at No. 40 ... Three CAC teams are in the top-10 of the Atlantic South Regional Rankings, Mary Washington (No. 6), Christopher Newport (No. 7) and Salisbury (No. 8) ... Five CAC players are ranked in the Atlantic South Singles Rankings - UMW's Shelby Harris (No. 11), Salisbury's Natalie Savage (No. 12), CNU's McKinney Harwood (No. 14), UMW's Alex Ritter (No. 20) and UMW's Caroline Mosberg (No. 24) ...
