University of Mary Washington junior Shelby Harris fell to Katie Kousman of Claremont Mudd Scripps, 6-1, 7-5, in the first round of the NCAA Division III singles championship on Thursday in Mason, Ohio.
After dropping the first set, 6-1, Harris stayed on serve until midway through the second, when she broke to take a 5-3 lead. Kousman rallied for four straight points and the win.
Harris closes the year with an overall singles record of 20-11.
