#20 UMW Women's Tennis Tops Christopher Newport, 6-3, on Saturday in Newport News

The 20th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Christopher Newport University, 6-3, on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles improve to 13-6 on the season, and 6-0 in CAC play.

The Captains took a lead after doubles, picking up 8-5 wins at one and two. The Eagles gained a point at three, as Alina Suyama and Chrissy Gaul won, 8-6.

In singles, UMW took charge, winning five of six matches. Shelby Harris won at one, 6-4, 6-4; Alex Ritter won at two, 6-3, 6-2; Gaul won at four, 6-2, 6-0; Mackenzie Smith won at five, 6-2, 6-0; and Hannah Jabusch won at six, 6-2, 6-2.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host Dickinson College at 3:30 pm and St. Mary's College at 6:00 p.m.
