#23 UMW Women's Tennis Tops #31 Chapman, 6-3, on Wednesday in California

The 23rd ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated #31 Chapman University, 6-3, on Wednesday in California. The Eagles improve to 5-1 on the season.

Alina Suyama and Kait Brogan started the match with a decisive 8-0 win at three doubles, and Shelby Harris and Caroline Mosberg won at one, 9-8 (4), as the Eagles took a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

Brogan won at five, 6-1, 6-1, and Mackenzie Smith won at six, 6-1, 6-1, to move the score to 4-1. Alex Ritter won at two, 7-6 (6), 6-3 to clinch, and Harris won at one, 7-6 (1), 6-1. The Eagles fell at three and four in three sets.

The Eagles will close their western swing on Friday when they visit #22 University of Redlands.
