Mary Washington Junior Shelby Harris Receives CAC Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Shelby Harris was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Sept. 24, 2014.

Mary Washington junior Shelby Harris was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after advancing to the third round of the Championship singles draw at the ITA Southeast Regional last weekend. Harris advanced further than any other CAC competitor, defeating Elizabethtown's Kaitlyn Pellegrino and Shannon Herndon of Johns Hopkins before falling to Carnegie Mellon's Bryn Rashcke in the round of 16. She and doubles partner Caroline Mosberg went 1-1 in doubles play, topping Roxy Alban and Natalie Savage of Salisbury.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport freshman Isabelle Wessel won the Blue 3 Singles flight at the ITA Southeast Regional by going 4-0 in the event ... Mary Washington had three players win flights at the ITA Regional - freshmen Kait Brogan (Blue 4) and Brittany McBridge (Blue 5) along with senior Michaela Dowd (Blue 6) ... Freshman Sage Cole made one of Salisbury's deepest runs in the ITA Championships in the Blue 6 singles draw, winning a pair of three-set matches. She took down Washington College's Megan Obarowski, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5, and Juniata's Emma Sebastian, 6-0, 2-6, 10-6 before being defeated in the quarterfinals ... York notched a 9-0 non-conference win on Saturday at Stevenson.
