Top-Seeded Raulston, Harris Advances to Doubles Quarterfinals; Raulston Falls in Singles Play at NCAA Championship

University of Mary Washington senior Lindsay Raulston and sophomore Shelby Harris advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament on Thursday, while Raulston fell earlier in the day in the round of 32 in singles play.

Raulston and Harris, the number one seed in the championship, easily defeated Nancy Benda and Carli Capistrani of Hope College, 6-1, 6-1, in the round of 16. They will face Samantha Chao and Lea Lynn Yen (Pomona-Pitzer) in the quarterfinals. Chao and Yen defeated Raulston and Harris in regular season play this season, 8-5.

In singles action, Raulston fell to fifth seeded Gabby Devlin of Amherst, 6-3, 6-1.

The doubles championship will continue on Friday evening in Claremont, Ca.
