Claremont, Ca.-- The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team fell to #14 La Verne University on Tuesday. The Eagles won at three doubles, as well as four and five singles on the day. The loss drops the Eagles to 3-1 on the year.
Alex Ritter and Mackenzie Smith won the only doubles match at three doubles, 8-5. The duo knocked off Allison Moncreif and Lauren Torres.
Smith and Ritter were the only two singles players to pick up wins against a strong La Verne squad. Smith won 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 over Bridget Etchegaray at the five spot. Ritter picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Moncrief at four singles.
The Eagles return to action against #10 Pomona-Pitzer on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
