#21 Eagles Earn Two Dual Wins Over Christopher Newport and Methodist on Saturday

UMW vs. CNU UMW vs. Methodist

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated both CAC rival Christopher Newport and Methodist 9-0 on Saturday to open the dual season. UMW won every singles match in both contests in straight sets to earn the victories and go to 2-0 on the year. 

Against CNU, UMW started out the day with three doubles wins, only dropping two games over the three matches. Lindsay Raulston and Shelby Harris earned an 8-0 win over Katie Carlson and Jodi Noland. Chrissy Gaul and Berri Flood also earned an 8-0 decision over Katlyn Yarborogh and Hailey Nettles. Ashley Barrow and Alina Suyama earned an 8-2 win over Jackie Gaine and Logan Eldridge.

Raulston, Harris, Gaul, as well as Alex Ritter, Mackenzie Smith and Michaela Dowd earned straight set singles wins to sweep the Captains.

It was a similar result against the Monarchs, with UMW winning all three doubles matches. The Eagles also won all the singles matches in straight sets to earn the victory.

The Eagles return to action February 26th, with a match against DI George Mason. The match with the Patriots begins at 4:00 p.m. at the UMW Tennis Center.
