Fredericksburg, Va.-- Day two of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships saw a day filled with Eagle victories.
Berri Flood had an impressive showing on Sunday. Flood started off her day in the Blue Singles 1 Draw against Brittney Eady of Moravian in the quarterfinals. After a hard-fought match, Flood came out victorious 9-7. Flood then faced Lauren Fields from Johns Hopkins in the semifinal round. Flood came out victorious to move to the finals, where she faced Amanda Soo Ping Chow, a fellow Blue Jay. Flood won easily 8-2 to take the crown.
The Eagles also picked up a championship crown in the Blue Doubles 1 Consolation Draw. The tandem of Michaela Dowd and Ashley Price started with the semifinals on Sunday. The two faced Adriana Scotto and Nicole Snitzer of Elizabethtown, and won due to an injury. In the finals, the duo knocked off Megan Phillips and Heather Waring of Juniata College, 8-5.
In the Blue Singles 1 Consolation Draw, Anna Richman defeated Samantha Munze of Methodist, 8-3.
In the Championship Doubles Consolation Draw, Chrissy Gaul and Anna Richman defeated Gyeyeon Kang and April Weaver in the quarterfinals due to an injury. The duo of Mackenzie Smith and Alina Suyama also picked up a win, beating Jenny Antoszyk and Brielle Smith due to injury. The two teams then faced off, with Smith and Suyama winning due to an injury. They will face Jody Law and Kaitlin Pfisterer of Johns Hopkins in the finals tomorrow.
Chrissy Gaul picked up a win in the Championship Singles Consolation Draw over Patricia Verdezoto of Randolph College, 8-3.
Sophomore Shelby Harris made it to the round of 16 in the Championship Singles Draw. Harris fell to Jody Law from Johns Hopkins, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday. Harris teamed with Lindsay Raulston to compete in the quarterfinals of the Championship Doubles Draw. The duo lost to Vanessa Pavia and Bryn Raschike of Carniege Mellon 8-2. This is the farthest any Mary Washington team has gone since 2008.
