Junior Lindsay Raulston won her first round match at the NCAA Division III women's tennis singles championship in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Thursday, before falling in an epic three set match in the round of 16.

Raulston, seeded seventh in the bracket, overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first set to defeat Farah Leclercq of Oberlin College, 7-6, 6-1 in her first round match.

In the second round against Ria Gerger of Middlebury, Raulston dropped the first set, 6-1, and trailed, 5-2, in the second, before storming back with five straight points to take the second set, 7-5.

In the third, Raulston forged ahead, 4-3, and had an opportunity to serve for the match up 6-5, but both players continued to break serve and the match went to a third set tiebreaker. Raulston went ahead 4-3 but Gerger scored three straight to come within a point of the win. Raulston rallied to cut the deficit to 6-5, but Gerger found the winner on the next point.
