UMW's Blakhin, Meadows Named CAC Tennis Players of the Week
Mary Washington sophomore Alex Blakhin and senior Michelle Meadows have been named the CAC Tennis Players of the Week this week after both tennis teams remained undefeated and in first place in the league standings.<br /> <br /> <font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">Mary Washington sophomore </font></font><b><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">ALEX BLAKHIN (Moscow, Russia/Saddlebrook Prep, Fla.) </font></font></b><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">was named the CAC </font></font><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to four wins last week, including an 8-1 decision over arch-rival </font></font><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">Salisbury and a 9-0 victory over York Saturday. Blakhin topped Salisbury’s Daniel Barnas in the showdown at No. 1 singles </font></font><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">and paired with Tyler Carey to win the No. 2 doubles match against the Gulls. Meadows dropped the first set to SU’s Elaina Iosou, then rebounded for a 7-6 (7-1) victory in the second set and </font></font><font face="Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial" size="2">a 10-5 tiebreaker to clinch the team point.</font></font></font></font></p>
