UMW Women's Swimming Takes Down Lynchburg, 165.5-96.5

In a bounce-back victory this weekend, the Mary Washington women's swim team took down Lynchburg, 165.5-96.5, to improve to 1-1 this fall.

UMW opened up the meet with a 400 IM relay victory in which Phoebe Root, Kinsey Brooks, Bri Wilson, and Margie Jones finished with the top time of 4:02.47. Marina Klein followed that up with a victory in the next event (1,000 free) with a final time 11:14.61, while Ainsley Graf finished third (11:24.00).

Klein then took home another distance victory -- the 500 yard freestyle (5:29.91).

In the 200 yard freestyle, Selby Heyman took home first (2:01.98), while Megan Kim and Ashley Dyer finished second and third, respectivley.

Root won the next event -- the 100 yard backstroke -- with a time of 1:02.62 and then the 200 yard backstroke (2:18.49).

Brooks placed first in the 100 yard, 200 yard breaststroke, and the 200 yard IM. Wilson won twice more -- this time in the 100 yard and 200 yard butterfly (2:13.65).

Heyman, Jones, Wilson and Ashlyn Diederich concluded the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Eagles are back in action at Randolph-Macon on Thursday night at 5:00 p.m.
