UMW Women's Swimming Fights Past Gettysburg, 136-126, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team fought to a 136-126 victory against Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon, bringing their record to 9-1 with 9-straight wins. 

The Eagles opened with a win in the 200 medley relay from Phoebe RootKinsey Brooks, Bridget Wilson and Thalia Costanza at 1:49.86. Kaylie Curran took 3rd in the 1000 freestyle at 11:18.35, Jenny Thompson took 2nd in the 200 free at 2:02.51, and Kinsey Brooks won the 100 backstroke with a 59.00 time, 2 seconds faster than the 2nd and 3rd place swimmers. The 100 breaststroke and 200 butterfly were taken by Bridget Zagrobelny and Margie Jones with times of 1:08.39 and 2:11.26, respectively.

Thalia Costanza won the 50 freestyle at 25.35 while taking 3rd in the 100 free at 55.99. Kinsey Brooks won the 200 backstroke at 2:09.61, Megan Kim placed 2nd in the 500 free at 5:26.02, and Bridget Wilson and Margie Jones took the top 2 spots in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall at 59.89 and 59.96, respectively. Kinsey Brooks finished her great performance by winning the 200 IM at 2:09.02, with Jenny Thompson and Delaney Humphrey taking 3rd and 4th place at 2:15.93 and 2:17.29.

The Eagles' 200 freestyle relay teams took 3rd, 4th, and 5th to finish off the meet with times of 1:42.12, 1:45.76, and 1:46.99.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at 3 p.m. when the Eagles host Southern Virginia University.
