UMW Women's Swimmers Sweep Bridgewater and Lynchburg on Friday Night

The University of Mary Washington women's swim team defeated Bridgewater College and the University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg on Friday night to improve to 2-1 on the season. The Eagles topped Lynchburg, 166-86, and Bridgewater, 184-59.

Winners for the Eagles included Claudia Keller in the 200 freestyle at 2:01.42, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3, Julia Geskey in the 100 backstroke at 1:02.08, as UMW took the top three honors, and Macey Lynch in the 200 butterfly at 55.35. Grace Gartman won the 50 freestyle at 25.32, just outtouching teammate Sydney Hall, and Geskey won the 100 free at 56.15.

Jenny Thompson took first in the 200 backstroke at 2:14.66, Mary Zagrobelny won the 200 breaststroke at 2:31.12, and Claudia Keller won the 500 at 5:22.72. Erin Whitesell won the 100 fly at 59.90, Grace Nicolai won the 200 IM, and the 200 free relay of Hall, Zagrobelny, Ingrid Dizon, and Geskey touched first at 1:43.41.

The Eagles will return to action on October 26 when they visit Howard University along with Monmouth at 1 p.m.
