UMW Women’s Swimming Defeats Gettysburg, 149-112, in Regular Season Finale

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team defeated Gettysburg College, 149-112, on Saturday afternoon in Gettysburg, PA. The Eagles improve to 9-1 overall. 

The Eagles took first place in the 400 yard medley relay with a team consisting of Carley Vaughn, Mary Zagrobelny, Erin Whitesell, and Sydney Hall. Vaughn had a big day in the pool as she placed first in the 100 yard backstroke coming in with a time of 1:01.91, while also placing first in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:12.88, and in the 100 yard butterfly with a 59.68 time of finish.

Claudia Keller secured first place in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:14.61. Keller also took second in the 200 yard backstroke and 1000 yard freestyle. Julia Geskey won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.03, and she also took second in the 200 yard IM.

Zagrobelny took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.04, and in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:30.72. Grace Gartman also brought home a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle at 25.24.

The Eagles will be back in the pool on February 14th when they travel to St. Mary's for the CAC Championships.
