UMW Women's Swimmers Take First at Gettysburg Invite by Four Points

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team edged host Gettysburg College by four points, 1015-1011, in the team standings at the Gettysburg Invitational, which came to a close on Saturday night.

On Saturday, the Eagles finioshed 2-3-4 in the 400 yard individual medley, with freshman Grace Nicolai finished second at 4:37.13, followed by Callie Dunham in third and Claudia Keller in fourth. Carley Vaughn won the 100 yard butterfly at 57.91, junior Julia Geskey won the 200 yard freestyle at 1:56.38, and Mary Zagrobelny took second in the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.82.

The 800 free relay of Geskey, Keller, Michaela Miller, and Macey Lynch took second at 7:59.43, and Grace Gartman, Dunham, Megan Carney and Nicolai took third at 8:07.90. The 200 free relay took second, as Kait Luncher, Geskey, Sydney Hall and Vaughn finished at 1:39.45.

Lynch took second in the 500 freestyle at 5:11.86, and the agles finished 1-2-3 in the 200 IM, as Zagrobelny won at 2:11.42, Vaughn took second at 2:11.93, and Nicolai finished third at 2:12.38. The 400 medley relay of Vaughn, Zagrobelny, Erin Whitesell, and Geskey won to clinch the team win with a time of 3:57.67.

The Eagles will return to action on January 12 when they host Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m.
