UMW Women’s Swimming Drops Season Opener, 166-93, at Washington & Lee

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team dropped their season opener, 166-93, at Washington & Lee on Friday evening in Lexington, VA.

Claudia Keller gained her first win of the season as she won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:58.79. She then brought home third place in the 500 yard freestyle at 5:26.76. 

Carley Vaughn was the other winner for UMW as she took first in the 200 yard butterfly by more than five seconds with a time of 2:11.32. Vaughn also placed second in the 100 yard butterfly at 1:00.17.

Mary Zagrobelny, Macey Lynch, and Callie Dunham all took second places in their events. Zagrobelny finished at 1:08.51 in the 100 yard backstroke, Lynch finished at 5:22.20 in the 500 yard freestyle, and Dunham had a time of 2:18.41 in the 200 yard IM. 

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, October 20th, in Pennsylvania as they will swim against Franklin & Marshall and Widener.
