UMW Women's Swimmers Tops Salisbury, 158-47

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team started the stretch run of the 2017-18 season with a decisive 158-47 victory at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon.

UMW began with a 1-2 finish in the 200 meter medley relay, with Carley Vaughn, Mary Zagrobelny, Erin Whitesell, and Grace Gartman touching out at 2:04.05. Cara Lowengrub took first in the 800 freestyle at 10:13.78, with Corrie Presland-Byrne taking second. Claudia Keller won the 200 freestyle as Eagles finished 1-2-3, and Gartman edged Whitesell in the 50 free at 28.13.

Zagrobelny won the 200 IM as the Eagles finished 1-2-3, and Whitesell won the 100 fly as UMW again finished 1-2-3. Makenzie Katzer won the 100 free at 1:05.65, with teammates trailing in second and third place, and Maddy Rymer won the 100 backstroke at 1:11.30. Keller took first in the 400 freestyle at 4:43.61, and Zagrobelny followed in the 100 breaststroke at 1:17.77.

Gartman, Rymer, Bailey Stewart and Keller then won the 200 free relay to cap the day, finishing with a time of 1:59.11.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday when they host Marymount University at noon.
