Mary Washington senior Megan Murphy collected CAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after winning five events at the Gettysburg Invitational last weekend. Individually, Murphy took gold in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, while also touching second in the 200 IM. She was also a part of winning relays in the 200 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 medley. Her top performance came in the 200 butterfly, as she won the event with an NCAA B Cut time of 2:05.22, which ranks atop the CAC and 12th nationally. Her 100 butterfly time ranks 23rd in the nation, while the UMW 200 medley (23rd in DIII) and 400 medley (18th in DIII) relays also rank near the top of Division III so far this year.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Five CAC teams competed last week, while Frostburg State was idle ... Marymount competed at the Yellow Jack Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon. Sophomore Hayley Elizondo broke a six-year-old program record in the 400 IM at 4:38.95, and also shattered an eight-year-old school record in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.70 ... St. Mary's junior Hailley Baughman notched personal bests in 100 and 200 breaststroke as she swam the 100 in 1:08.38 and the 200 in 2:32.48. She had three top five finishes for the weekend ... York sophomore Justine Wantz earned a pair of wins this past weekend at the Washington & Lee Invitational as the Green and White placed second of six teams. Wantz captured victory in the two backstroke events as she won the 100 backstroke in a time of 58.58. She then won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:06.11. Wantz also finished 10th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.53. Her time in the 100 backstroke is the top time in the CAC this year while the 200 time is .20 seconds back of her conference leading time set at F&M. Wantz now has eight individual wins which is tops on the Spartan squad this year.
