UMW Women's Swimming Tops Barton, 180-81, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team defeated Barton College, 180-81, on Saturday to improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Eagles opened with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay, as Carley Vaughn, Megan Carney, Megan Murphy, and Kait Luncher finished first at 1:52.03, and Maddy Rymer, Mary Zagrobelny, Melissa Autry, and Grace Gartman took second at 1:53.85. Rymer won the 100 backstroke at 1:02.77, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3, and Carney won the 100 breaststroke at 1:09.98.

Murphy won the 200 butterfly as the Eagles finished 1-2-3. Murphy touched out at 2:10.32, with Vaughn taking second and Hailee Morse third. Murphy then won the 100 freestyle at 54.21, and Julia Geskey won the 200 backstroke at 2:12.41, as UMW finished 1-2-3. Carney won the 200 breaststroke in another 1-2-3 placing for the Eagles, Claudia Keller won the 400 IM at 5:23.84, and Vaughn won the 100 butterfly at 1:00.24.

Geskey won the 400 IM at 4:48.28, and the 200 free relay of Luncher, Gartman, Vaughn, and Murphy won at 1:41.51.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday when they host Marymount University at 1 p.m.
