UMW Women's Swimming Opens with Split at W&L with Centre

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team opened the 2017-18 season by splitting a dual-dual meet at Washington & Lee University with Centre College. The Eagles topped Centre, 179-83, and fell to W&L, 175-87.

Winners for the Eagles included Carley Vaughn in the 100 yard backstroke at 1:00.19, Megan Murphy in the 100 yard butterfly at 58.77 and the 200 yard butterfly at 2:11.12, and Claudia Keller in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:11.88. Second place finishes included the 200 yard medley relay of Vaughn, Mary Zagrobelny, Murphy, and Grace Gartman at 1:50.32, Keller in the 1000 freestyle at 10:51.15, Gartman in the 50 freestyle at 25.08, and the 200 free relay of Gartman, Kait Luncher, Melissa Autry, and Vaughn at 1:42.12.

The Eagles will return to action next Friday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 5:00 p.m.
