Senior Anna Corley helped kickstart a strong day one of competition in the Capital Athletic Conference championships for the University of Mary Washington women's swim team on Friday in St. Mary's City, Md.

Corley turned in a season best and NCAA provisional time of 2:04.33 in morning preliminaries in the 200 yard individual medley, and then swam to a 2:04.61 in the evening swim, in taking first place. Junior Maddy Rymer finished third in the event, and sophomore Michaela Miller finished fourth.

The 200 yard free relay started the competition in the night session, with Carley Vaughn, Lauren Wood, Shannon Coryell, and Corley finishing first at 1:36.95. Hailee Morse took third in the 500 yard freestyle at 5:15.13, and Coryell took second in the 50 yard freestyle at 24.49, with Wood finishing third and Kait Luncher fourth.

The Eagles closed the night by winning the 400 medley relay, as Julia Geskey, Corley, Megan Murphy, and Coryell took first at 3:53.13.

The championships will continue on Saturday, with prelims starting at 10 and finals continuing at 6.
