UMW Women's Swimmers Open With 128-39 Win Over Frostburg on Friday

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team opened the 2016-17 season with a convincing 128-39 victory over Frostburg State University on Friday night at Goolrick Natatorium.

The Eagles opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 yard medley relay, with Carley Vaughn, Anna Corley, Lauren Wood, and Shannon Coryell finishing first at 1:50.82. Other wins included Megan Murphy in the 1000 freestyle at 11:14.45, Maddy Rymer in the 50 backstroke at 29.24, Vaughn in the 200 butterfly at 2:11.20, and Coryell in the 50 free at 24.98.

Coryell also won the 100 free at 54.19, Taylor Mooney won the 200 backstroke at 2:16.71, Allison Pryor won the 500 free at 5:33.26, and Corley followed by winning the 50 butterfly at 27.51 and the 100 IM at 1:00.80.

UMW closed the night by finishing 1-2-3 in the 200 free relay. Vaughn, Wood, Kait Luncher, and Michaela Miller finished first at 1:42.29.

The Eagles will be back in action again on Saturday when they visit Randolph-Macon College at 12:00 p.m.
