UMW Women's Swimmers Top St. Mary's on Senior Day, 157-47

The University of Mary Washington women's swim team downed St. Mary's College, 157-47, on Saturday for senior day at Goolrick Natatorium. The Eagles improve to 8-0 on the season.

UMW started the day with a win in the 200 medley relay, as Maddy Rymer, Anna Corley, Bailey Stewart, and Lauren Wood finished first at 1:56.02. Senior Ashley Walnut then won the 1000 freestyle at 11:03.00, and Corley won the 200 freestyle at 1:58.30.

Senior Steph Hallock won the 50 freestyle at 24.75, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the event, and Megan Murphy won the 400 IM at 4:43.64. Shannon Coryell won the 100 yard butterfly at 1:00.36, and Walnut took first in the 100 free at 55.18, as Eagles finished first, second, and third.

Senior Katie Fago won the 100 yard backstroke at 59.48, as the Eagles again went 1-2-3, then Murphy won the 500 free at 5:26.55. Abby Cox won the 100 breaststroke at 1:11.16, and the all-senior 200 free relay of Hagy, Walnut, Fago, and Rachel Thomas took first at 1:43.38.

Mary Washington will be back in action next Saturday at Gettysburg College starting at 1:00 p.m.
