UMW Women Finish Second at Gettysburg Invitational

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team finished in second place at the Gettysburg College Invitational on Saturday to cap the fall season. UMW scored 867 points, behind only Gettysburg's 919.5.

Winners for the Eagles included Megan Murphy in the 400 yard IM at 4:34.92, an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Abby Cox was second in the event, also with an NCAA B cut of 4:36.12. Senior Ashley Walnut won the 200 freestyle at 1:55.31, and freshman Emily Adams took second at 1:56.59.

Hannah Hagy was second in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.58, while Katie Fago took first in the 100 backstroke at 57.76. The 800 free relay of Anna Corley, Steph Hallock, Adams, and Walnut took first at 7:48.55.

The 200 free relay of Fago, Coryell, Hagy, and Hallock took first at 1:37.28. Anna Corley took first in the 200 IM with an NCAA provisional time of 2:06.21, while Murphy took second at 2:12.55. Hallock won the 50 freestyle at 23.88, an NCAA provisional time. The 400 medley relay of Fago, Corley, Hagy, and Hallock finished first at 3:55.80.

The Eagles will return to action after their winter trip on January 9 at Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m.
