St. Mary's, Md.-- The University of Mary Washington women's swim team held a stellar first day at the CAC Championships. The Eagles won every event of the day to swim out to an early lead. 

UMW won both relays on the day, starting off the finals with a win in the 200 free relay. Elizabeth Lewan, Katie Fago, Tara Banks and Steph Hallock won the gold with a time of 1:36.92, a full four seconds ahead of second place Marymount. Fago and Hallock teamed up with Amber Kerico and Hannah Hagy to cap the day winning the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:54.69.

The Eagles swept the podium in the 500 free, going 1-2-3. Jessica Singer won with a time of 5:05.40, while Ashley Walnut (5:13.47) and Maddie Carinci (5:14.51) finished two and three. Abby Cox won the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.06, while Kristen Callahan and Robin Brazier finished second and third, with Allison Martin picking up a seventh place finish. UMW went 1-3-5-6-7 in the 50 free sprint. Hallock picked up her first individual victory with a time of 24.23, while Banks finished third in 24.42. Shannon Coryell, Lewan, and Fago went 5-6-7 respectively. 

The Eagles lead with a score of 288, ahead of host St. Mary's (155) and Marymount (131). York, Salisbury and Frostburg State round out the field.

Swimmers return to the pool for day two with prelims at 10:00 AM and finals at 6:00 PM.
