Women's Swimming Closes Regular Season with Pair of CAC Wins

Arlington Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's swim team closed out the regular season with a pair of CAC victories over host Marymount and Frostburg State. The Eagles defeated the Saints (115-68) and the Bobcats (148-37) to improve to 8-3, 5-0 CAC.

The Eagles won the bookend relays of the meet. UMW took the 200 Medley Relay to open the meet with the team of Katie Fago, Hannah Hagy, Anna Corley, and Steph Hallock. The team won with a time of 1:53.62, a full seven seconds ahead of second. The 200 Free Relay quartet of Hallock, Corley, Meredith Thompson, and Lauren Wood won with a time of 1:43.82.

UMW won all the individual races to earn the victory. Thompson and Allison Martin each won twice on the day. Thompson was a winner in the 50 Free (26.70) and the 100 Free (57.45), while Martin took first in the 100 Fly (1:03.59) and the 100 Breast (1:16.04). Catherine Perrin also was a double winner, in the 100 Back (1:05.24) and the 400 IM (5:03.79).

Other Eagle first place finishers included Robin Brazier in the 200 Free (2:02.05) and Abby Cox in the 500 Free (5:29.81).

UMW returns to the pool at the CAC Championships on February 15th-17th. This years championships will be held at St. Mary's College with trials at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. each day.
