Eagles Race Past Salisbury, 161-44, in CAC Action on Saturday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The Eagles defeated the Sea Gulls, 161-44 on Saturday from the Goolrick Pool. The women won all but one event on their way to the win. The victory improves the Eagles to 5-1, 2-0 CAC for the year. 

The Eagles won the bookends of the meet, winning both the 400 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay. The team of Meredith Thompson, Kristen Callahan, Shannon Coryell, and Riley Scalzo won with a time of 4:15.14. The quartet of Elizabeth Lewen, Coryell, Katie Fago, and Hannah Hagy won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:48.82.

UMW won eight of the nine individual races, including sweeps in six of the eight wins. Jessica Singer got the winning started with a win in the 1000 Free in a time of 10:58.02. Ashley Walnut and Margaret Neubig finished two and three respectively in the race. Stephanie Hallock led the trio of Eagle finishers in the 50 Free with a time of 25.25. She was followed by Lauren Wood, and Tara Banks.

Abby Cox, Hannah Hagy, and Hallock won the next three races (400 IM, 100 Fly, and 100 Free) respectively. Other Eagle winners include Katie Fago (100 Back), Maddie Carinci (500 Free), and Alex Parrish (100 Breast). 

UMW returns to the pool next Saturday, January 18th on Senior Night. The seniors will be honored prior to the meet against St. Mary's (Md.) starting at 1:00 p.m.
