Eagles Have Strong Day at Gettysburg Invitational

Gettysburg, Pa.-- The UMW women's swim team completed day one of the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday. The competing teams include Johns Hopkins, Dickinson, UMW and host Gettysburg.

Amber Kerico continued her stron start to the season with a win in the 200 Breast. Kerico finished ahead of teammate Kristen Callahan in a time of 2:28.19. Callahan finished in 2:30.61. Jessica Singer also picked up a victory on Friday in the 1650 Free. Singer won in 17:38.50, while fellow Eagle Ashley Walnut finished in third place in 17:51.24. 

Other Eagle finishers include Anna Corley, who finished in third in the 200 Back. Corley finished with a time of 2:09.90. Abby Cox was a third place finisher in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:11.27. To cap the night, the 400 Free Relay team finished in second place behind Gettysburg. The quartet of Tara Banks, Lauren Wood, Corley and Singer finished in a time of 3:36.07. 

The Eagles return for day two of the invitational tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m.
