Women's Swimming Edges Washington & Lee, 139-123 on Friday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team defeated Washington & Lee 139-123 on Friday evening. The Eagles edged the Generals to move to 1-1 on the year. 

The Eagles started the night off with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Katie Fago, Amber Kerico, Hannah Hagy, and Stephanie Hallock won with a time of 1:51.78.

UMW also got wins from Amber Kerico, Abby Cox, Stephanie Hallock and Hannah Hagy. Kerico was a winner in the 100 Breast and 200 Breast. She won in 1:09 in the 100 and 2:29.67 in the 200. Cox also was a two event winner. Cox won the 200 Fly (2:13.47) and the 200 IM (2:01.13). Hallock recieved wins in the 50 and 100 Free. She won in 25.33 in the 50 and in 55.10 in the 100. Hagy rounded out the wins, with a win in the 100 Fly. She won with a time of 1:01.25. 

"It's always great to swim at home. We have a great crowd and great support," head coach Abby Brethauer said following the meet. "Washington & Lee is always a big meet and it is nice to come away with a win."

The Eagle return to action on Friday, November 1st against York (Pa.). The meet at York begins at 6:00 p.m.
