Mary Washington Women's Soccer Falls to Catholic, 2-0

Despite outshooting Catholic, 10-6, the Mary Washington women's soccer team (7-7-1) was beaten by the Cardinals, 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Eagles fell behind early when Catholic scored in the 10th minute, but outshot the Cardinals in the first half, 5-2. UMW, too, recorded a pair of corner kicks while shutting out the Cardinals in that category.

Sydney Alexander recieved the start in goal for Mary Washington, while Morgan Hicok started in the second half and recorded a save for the Eagles.

Catholic scored once more in the second half (57') to go up, 2-0.

Of the Eagles 10 shots, seven were on goal -- Natalie Anderson, Naomi Knight, and Eliza Franklin all recorded a pair of shots each. Savannah Alexander, Riley Boyd, Macey Wissell, and Reagan Boyer recorded the four other shots.

On the day, Catholic earned more corners than UMW, 5-4.

Mary Washington is back in action on Saturday against No. 8 Johns Hopkins for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
