The Mary Washington women's soccer team scored once in each half on Wednesday night to take down St. Mary's College (Md.) in Fredericksburg, Va., 2-0.

The Eagles used Eliza Franklin's penalty kick in the 18th minute, courtesy of a yellow card picked up by SMC's keeper, to jump ahead 1-0.

Mary Washington shot the ball seven times in the first half on four corner kicks. The Eagles held St. Mary's to just one corner kick and shutout the Seahawks in shots.

In the second half, it was much of the same story -- Mary Washington controlled the ball for most of the half as it recorded eight shots. The Seahawks got on the board in shots in the second half with two, though none of them were on goal.

Jazzy Imanverdi, off an assist of Maci Landel, recorded her third goal of the season on a ball that found the back of the net and iced UMW's sixth victory of the season in the 49th minute.

Sydney Alexander totaled all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles and took part in her sixth shutout of the season.

On the night, Mary Washington tallied 15 total shots and four corners while holding St. Mary's to just a pair of shots and one corner.

The Eagles are back in action at No. 1 Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon. Kick off is set for 4 p.m.
