UMW Women's Soccer Picked 2nd in C2C Preseason Coaches' Poll

The University of Mary Washingon women's soccer eam has been picked second in the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released today. 

Mary Washington will look to again challenge for top conference honors in 2023, after finishing 12-5-4 a season ago. The Eagles, who fell 1-0 to Christopher Newport in the conference championship, will look for further accolades this fall thanks to a strong group of returnees that includes reigning C2C Rookie of the Year Kaitlyn Venzen, who scored 11 goals a year ago. Senior Savannah Alexander will look to build on a strong '23 season (5 goals, 1 assist), as will veteran Macey Wissell, a top-five scorer for UMW last fall. Returning midfielders Ella Knight, Riley Boyd, Eliza Franklin, and Ellen Shine and defenders Cassidy Shaw, Emma McMullan, and Natalie Anderson will look to support a new starter in goal, with returnees Adriana Thompson and Morgan Hicok and newcomer Sydney Alexander providing he las line of defense.
