The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday night. The Eagles slip to 1-5-1 on the season.
The Eagles and Hornets battled through much of the game in a scoreless draw, with both sides gaining opportunities but not reaching the scoring column. The hosts scored in the 66th minute to go ahead, and added another on a penalty kick to up the advantage to 2-0 in the final minutes.
Lynchburg led in shots, 15-7, as well as corner kicks, 9-1. UMW goalkeeper Allison Nork (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) made five saves in defeat between the pipes for the Eagles.
Mary Washington will be back in action again on Saturday when they visit Greensboro College at 12:00 p.m.
