Longacher's Two Scores Lift UMW Women's Soccer Past Southern Va., 3-1

Junior Anna Longacher scored a goal in each half to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory at Southern Virginia University on Wedneday evening in Buena Vista, Va. The Eagles improve to 5-7 overall, and 2-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Longacher provided the first score, as she took a pass from senior Brielle Mitchell at 11:57 to put the Eagles on the board. The Knights knotted the score at 1-1 in the 42nd minute, and the score remained tied through intermission.

In the second, sophomore Lindsey Hendrickson put the Eagles ahead for good at 74:50, and Lomngacher added an insurance tally 1:03 later to cap the scoring.

The Eagles led in shots, 14-7, as well as corner kicks, 4-2. UMW goalkeeper Allison Nork made four saves in gaining the victory.

UMW will return to action on Saturday when the Eagles visit York College of Pa. in another CAC contest, starting at 12:30 p.m.
