UMW Women's Soccer Tops Wesley, 3-2, on Saturday Night

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 second half lead and held on for a 3-2 victory at Wesley College on Saturday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles improve to 6-8-1 on the season, and 2-3-1 in league play.

The lone score of the first half came wn an Eagle tally from freshman Brooke Bauman at 28:22. UMW maintained the 1-0 advantage into the second half, and extended it at 53:31 on a Christina Carlston score. The Eagles made it 3-0 at 72:19, as freshman Anna Longacher scored as well.

Wesley scored in the 81st and 89th minutes, but couldn't find the tying score.

UMW led in shots, 39-13, as well as in corner kicks, 13-0. UMW goalkeeper Haley Randall had three saves in 45 shutout minutes, while Kelcie Macomber added one save in the second half. Wesley's Krista Salvadore had 15 saves.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Mary's College of Md. at 3:30 p.m. for another CAC tilt.
