UMW Women's Soccer Tops Goucher, 3-1, on Saturday in Towson

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team ran its all-time record against former conference foe Goucher College to 11-0, as the Eagles downed the Gophers, 3-1, on Saturday in Towson, Md. The Eagles improve to 4-3 on the season.

Mary Washington opened the scoring at 11:11, as Corinne Carson scored on a Christina Carlston assist. At 38:12, Lauren Brower collected a rebound of a saved shot to provide UMW with an insurance tally and a 2-0 lead. Goucher scored just before halftime to cut the margin to 2-1.

In the second, junior Lizzie Brooks scored on a cross from Christiana Meyers at 75:13, to provide the capper.

Mary Washington led in shots, 21-8, as well as in corner kicks, 3-2. Haley Randall made four saves in gaining the win for UMW, while Christina Charikofskyhad 11 stops for the Gophers.

UMW will be back in action tomorrow when they host Ferrum College at 2 p.m.
