UMW Women's Soccer Falls to Randolph-Macon, 3-1, on Wednesday

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. UMW falls to 3-3 on the season.

The Eagles fell behind late in the first, as Randolph-Macon scored on a penalty kick at 29:35 by Taylor Drucker after a hand ball, and again at 35:23 on another penalty kick following a foul in the box, this time by Kasey Martino. The Yellow Jackets closed out the first half on a score from Mary Virginia Kelly at 41:11 on a direct free kick.

Mary Washington reached the scoreboard at 51:44, as junior Grace Freidl scored on a shot from outside the penalty area.

The Yellow Jackets led in shots, 11-8, as well as in corner kicks, 3-2. UMW goalkeeper Haley Randall had seven saves, while Randolph-Macon's Christina Newman made three stops.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Goucher College at 3:00 p.m.
