Jackson, Reynolds Lead UMW Women's Soccer to 7-0 Victory over Wesley on Homecoming Saturday

Senior Maryfay Jackson scored a pair of goals, and sophomore Allye Reynolds added a score and two assists to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Wesley College on Saturday at Homecoming at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 9-5-2 overall, and 5-2-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles struck early with freshman Corinne Carson scoring unassisted at 6:34. Sophomore Kaitlyn Higgins pushed the lead to 2-0 at 37:36 on a Reynolds assist, and sophomore Lizzie Brooks scored UMW's third goal of the first half at 40:07 on another Reynolds assist.

In the second, sophomore Christiana Meyeers scored unassisted at 60:36, and then Meyers assisted Reynolds at 68:52 to extend the lead to 5-0. Jackson scored on a Marisa Madaras assist at 73:01, and again at 87:28 on a Meghan Turney assist to cap the scoring.

The Eagles led in shots, 31-3, and in corner kicks, 9-1. Senior Sara Armor and sophomore Kelcie Macomber combined for one save in the shutout. Armor logged 63 minutes on her senior day.

Mary Washington will return to action on Tuesday when they host Penn State-Harrisburg at 3:30 in another Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
