UMW Women's Soccer Falls to Frostburg, 1-0, on Wednesday

Visiting Frostburg State University scored the game's lone goal with just under eight minutes remaining to defeat the University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 6-4-1 overall, and 2-1 in CAC play.

Both teams had several opportunities throughout, but neither team was able to capitalize until the waning minutes, when FSU's Melanie Bell took a through pass toward goal from Brooke Shehade and found the net with 7:59 left.

The Eagles held a 13-12 edge in shots, and each side had three corner kicks. UMW's Haley Randall had five saves in goal, while Rhianna Lapen had five saves for Frostburg.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Saturday when they host York College of Pa. in a rematch of last year's CAC Championship. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
