Jackson's Score Lifts UMW Women's Soccer at Marymount, 1-0, on Saturday Night

Senior Forward Maryfay Jackson scored her second goal of the season with less than 15 minutes remaining in the contest, as the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team defeated Marymount University, 1-0, on Saturday evening in Arlington, Va. The Eagles are 1-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play and improve to 5-3-1 overall.

Mary Washington controlled the pace of the game throughout, especially in the second half, as the Eagles outshot the Saints, 17-3. After a deflection at 76:37, sophomore forward Allye Reynolds tapped it to Jackson for the score.

The Eagles continued their strong play in the back, posting their fourth shutout in the past five matches. Sophomore keeper Haley Randall recorded three saves for the Eagles, while Sydney Schultz had 11 for the Saints. UMW led in shots, 25-6, and in corners, 9-3.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday with another CAC showdown at Salisbury University at 2:00 pm.
