UMW Women's Soccer Closes Regular Season with 2-1 Loss at Penn State Harrisburg

Three goals in a three-minute span interrupted an otherwise scoreless affair, as the University of Mary Washington dropped a 2-1 decision at Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 9-8-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, it was the Eagles who jumped ahead first, as freshman Lauren Brower scored on a Shannon Blackstone assist at 74:07. The Eagle lead was short lived, as the Lions knotted the score at 1-1 just 15 seconds later, on a score from Kylie Courtney.

At 76:44, PSU Harrisburg took the lead on a goal from Erica Hile, assisted by Kristen Stark, and held on for the 2-1 victory.

Mary Washington led in shots, 15-12, and corner kicks, 15-3. Freshman goalie Haley Randall made four saves in goal for Mary Washington, while Samantha Kutcher had eight saves for the Lions.

The Eagles will be the fifth seed in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament starting this Saturday, and will play at either Salisbury University or Frostburg State University, pending Tuesday's late results.
