UMW Women's Soccer Tops Marymount, 9-0; Weast Ties School Record for Points in a Game

Senior midfielder Lizzie Weast tied the school record for points in a game with 10, as the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team defeated Marymount University, 9-0, on Saturday at the Battleground. Weat scored four goals and added two assists for the Eagles, now 9-6 overall and 4-2 in CAC play.

The Eagles struck early, as freshman Marisa Madaras had her shot saved at 1:16, but the deflection went to Weast, who passed to junior Maryfay Jackson to put the Eagles ahead. Madaras scored at 10:53 on a Jackson assists, and Weast scored her first two minutes later to move the score to 3-0.

Jackson scored her second goal of the day on a Weast assist at 21:58, and Weast scored less than a minute later to put the Eagles up, 5-0. At 31:52, freshman Dana Eckerstrom scored on a Christina Carlston assist, and freshman Ellie Maston scored in the final minute of the first half to give UMW a 7-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Weast scored in the 80th minute, and again at 83:46, giving the Eagles the 9-0 win.

Weast ties the school record for points, originally set in 1988 by Debbie Greisse, who scored fivegoals in a game.

The Eagles led in shots, 32-3, and in corner kicks, 3-0. Kelcie Macomber, Haley Randall, and Sara Armor combined for the shutout, combining for two saves.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Frostburg State University in another CAC contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
