Madaras' Two Goals Lead UMW Women's Soccer Past Southern Virginia, 4-0, on Wednesday

Freshman Marisa Madaras scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory at Southern Virginia University on Wednesday night in Buena Vista, Va. The Eagles improve to 8-6 on the season.

Mary Washington opened the scoring at 16:14, as Madaras scored an unassisted goal. UMW upped its advantage to 2-0 with 33:09 gone by, on a Meghan Turney unassisted tally. The Eagles led, 2-0, at halftime.

In the second, junior Maryfay Jackson scored at 58:05 on a Madaras assist to up the lead to 3-0, and the two reversed roles at 65:10, as Jackson fed Madaras for the capping score.

Mary Washington led in shots, 24-11, and corner kicks, 6-3. Freshman Haley Randall made four saves in registering the shutout for the Eagles, while Savannah Uri had five saves in nets for SVU.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Marymount University at 1:00 p.m. in another CAC clash. The game will be Win 4 Wesley day, as well as Senior Day for the Eagles.
