UMW Women's Soccer Falls in OT at St. Mary's, 2-1, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team overcame an early deficit to force overtime, but fell in the opening minute of the extra frame in a 2-1 Capital Athletic Conference loss at St. Mary's College of Md. on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 7-6 on the season, and 2-2 in league action.

After a scoreless first half, the Seahawks scored in the first 30 seconds of the second half, on a Jenna Pastel score. At 74:05, senior Lizzie Weast tied the game for UMW on an assist from Mackenzie Kirkham, and the game remained tied through regulation.

St. Mary's again struck quickly after intermission, as Claire Kostelnik scored 25 seconds into overtime on a Jess Koneke assist.

Both teams had eight shots in the game, with the Seahawks leading in corner kicks, 7-5. Freshman Haley Randall had two saves in goal for the Eagles, while Katie Flores had one save for the Seahawks.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Southern Virginia University in a CAC match starting at 7:30 p.m.
